Introduction

After twelve long years, StarCraft II has finally arrived. It is the second installment of Blizzard Entertainment's epic StarCraft saga. StarCraft is a story of an intergalactic war between the Terran, Protoss, Zerg and and the struggles that each one of them face. In campaign mode, players are put into the drivers seat and must complete missions to further the goal of their race. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is a tale of Jim Raynor, whom was an integral part of of the original StarCraft, but was cast aside by his Terran comrades.

StarCraft II is a real-time strategy game (RTS) and focuses on ones ability to multitask, weigh benefits, make quick decisions and lead ones troops to victory. The real beauty of StarCraft begins to unfold when players log onto battle.net and compete with one another in a competitive online interface called the ladder. The types of factors and inhibitors become limitless in this climate of freedom. Every win and loss is tallied and there are many achievements to gain.

What's your favorite StarCraft race?

The most fun and exciting part about the game of StarCraft is learning about the core elements for the first time! If you're not familiar with the units in the original StarCraft, go here because I'm only explaining the updates of SC2, not the original. Moving forward in the saga, Blizzard decided to dismiss several units from each race and replace them with newer, more modern successors. Below is a list of the new units of each race:

Terran:

Marauder- Powerful military unit; bonus damage to armored units, can use Slow and Stimpack abilities.
Reaper- Fast and versatile military unit; bonus damage to light units, can hop up and down cliffs.
Hellion- Fast and mobile mechanical unit; bonus damage to light units; can pierce multiple units.
Thor- Slow and powerful mechanical unit; bonus damage to armored ground units and bonus damage to light air units.
Viking- Anti air, flying mechanical unit which only shoots air; can land on the ground and target ground.
Medivac- The healing school bus; a flying unit that carries other units; has the ability to heal friendly biological units.
Raven- Flying detector; inherently deals no damage, but has abilities that enable it to do so.
Banshee- Powerful flyer unit; can only target ground; can have the ability of invisibility.

Protoss:

Stalker- Mobile ground unit; deals bonus damage to armored units, can shoot ground and air.
Sentry- Ground caster unit; deals small damage, but makes up for it with helpful abilities.
Immortal- Very powerful and slow ground unit; can only attack ground.
Warp Prism- Protoss school bus; can warp in reinforcements with warp-gate ability researched.
Colossus- Very powerful cliffwalking unit. Vulnerable and considered both a ground and air unit and thus can be targeted by both.
Phoenix- Very versatile flying unit; deals bonus damage to light units, can attack while moving.
Void Ray- Very fragile flying unit; deals bonus damage the longer it attacks one target.
Mothership- Slow, but heavily armored flying unit; can only possess one at a time and has the permanent cloak ability.

Zerg:

Queen- Basic ground unit; small ground and air damage, but makes up for it with its abilities.
Baneling- An evolved zergling; it sacrifices itself in order to deal splash damage to enemies, deals bonus damage to light units.
Overseer- Zerg flying detector.
Roach- Sturdy ground unit; can attack ground, has the ability to move while burrowed underground
Infestor- Caster unit; very fragile, but possesses extremely powerful abilities; can also move while burrowed.
Corruptor- Flying anti-air unit; deals bonus damage to massive units, can evolved into the Brood Lord.
Brood Lord- Evolved from the corruptor; can only shoot ground and is very slow, but deals a great deal of damage.

Now that we have the introduction of the game sorted out, I will go into deeper detail of what one will find in their journey of becoming a diamond level StarCraft II player. Tragically, the complexity of StarCraft II cannot be summed up in one Hub, but I have created a list of Hubs that I will go into further detail separately below. They will become available to click as I post them. This is not an exhaustive list and is a tentative schedule as a reminder for myself. More topics will be added as they come to mind.
